Our clinics provide routine care and treatment to help you live well with HIV.

For Derbyshire patients, your local HIV clinics are in Shirebrook and Wheatbridge. The opening times are:

  • Shirebrook: Mondays, 8:00am-10:00 am
  • Wheatbridge: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30am-11.30am

Sometimes, we can see you outside of these hours, but you should call us to arrange this in advance.

You can find your nearest clinic by using our clinic finder.

If you need to make or change an appointment with the HIV clinic, contact us directly on our mobile number 07341047295. We will work with you to find a good time for your visit.

This contact number is for people living in Derbyshire. If you live in Derby city, visit the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust website, or call 01332 258 120.

When you arrive our friendly receptionist will ask you to update your details using a simple form. This helps us keep your information up to date.

Consultation with a doctor or nurse

You will be called in to see a doctor or nurse specialist. They will ask about your medical history, talk about your medications, and check if you are taking them as prescribed.

We also care about your overall sexual health, so we may discuss topics such as sexual health screenings, contraception options, or cytology services (looking at your cells under a microscope).

Blood tests and monitoring

During your visit, we may do routine blood tests to check your liver, kidneys, blood sugar, and health. We will also screen your HIV levels (viral load) and immune system strength. How often you have these tests may vary based on your unique needs.

We also have an HIV pharmacist on hand to guide and support you if you need medication.

Getting your results

When you have tests at our clinics, we’ll also tell you how you’ll get your results.

If your viral load is undetectable (low levels of the virus in your blood), we will not contact you.  If we have any concerns, such as a detectable viral load (meaning there is a significant amount of the virus in your blood), we will call and talk with you about further tests or possible changes to your treatment. For sexual health screenings, we will send you a text message.

If you have any further questions about coming to our HIV clinics please contact us on 07341047295. We are here to support you.
